Wedding Makeup - August 21st, 2011

On Sunday, August 21st I got to opportunity to work with my good friend Melissa as her assistant for a wedding. I was a bit nervous, as I haven't done wedding makeup for such a long time!!

I worked on the Maid of Honour and Mother of The Bride. They were both lovely and I felt at ease working with them.

For the Mother of the Bride, I used a mixture of a water-based foundation from Evolutions @ Seneca College and Arbonne Perfecting Liquid Foundation. For her eyes I used the dark palette from Evolutions @ Seneca and some waterproof liquid liner to put more emphasis on her eyes. Melissa applied some false lashes. On her lips I used a wine red after lining them with a neutral lip liner.

For the Maid of Honour, I used a mix of two water based foundations from Evolutions @ Seneca. She wasn't used to wearing makeup, so we kept her eyes toned down with a dark brown from the Dark Palette from Evolutions @ Seneca. Again, I used a waterproof liquid liner for her eyes and Mel finished the look off with false lashes. I used the Evolutions @ Seneca lip palette and mixed a pinkish gold hue with a mauve shade so she could get some colour and sheen.

skin care review - Arbonne FC5 Hydrating Cleanser + Freshener

Although I've only been using Arbonne products for a few months, I would say it's one of the best kept secrets of the beauty world. All of the ingredients used are organic when possible, or they use the safest pharmaceuticals. And it's a huge deal for me that you actually see results with these products!! On this post I'm going to focus on one product in the FC5 line, the Hydrating Cleanser + Freshener ($31 CAD). I know, it seems like a lot to pay for a face wash, but trust me, you'll see results with this one!!! The first night I tried it I noticed that I didn't get that tight, dry feeling on my face that I usually get with cleansers. Also, it smells amazing!! It contains strawberry cells so you get that yummy natural strawberry scent without any irritation from added fragrance.

My boyfriend also started using it after complaining about breaking out and dehydration (I had to examine his face haha). After a few days his face completely cleared up and he said that he wasn't feeling any more dry patches. With continued use you'll definitely notice a big change in your skin, one that's for the better. Remember, these are organic ingredients, so it's letting nature run its course and letting your true beauty shine through!

To purchase this product you can head on over to www.arbonne.ca (or .com for US and international orders) and make an order. If you're interested in becoming an Arbonne consultant or a Preferred Client (you get discounted products and other incentives) you can email me at mafargas@gmail.com and I will be happy to set up a meeting (in person or through Skype) with you :)

My first bridal consultation

So a few weeks ago I did my first bridal consultation for one of my sister's best friends. I have to admit, when we started I felt like I should have paid more attention in my bridal makeup classes haha. After a while everything came back to me and I was able to get everything going!

the tools of the trade

Kate (the bride to be) doesn't regularly wear makeup so we took a very natural approach to her look, which I like to think is my specialty. We started with some basic skin correction and concealing and applied a light layer of liquid foundation and powder to fix a few imperfection. Luckily Kate has good skin so it was quick and easy to work with! We also decided on a nice plum colour for her eyes to give it a smokey look without too much drama. As her lips are naturally a bit dark, I simply applied a bit of wine red to bring them out a bit more without taking too much attention away from her eyes.

A few weeks before the wedding we'll be doing a second consultation, but I'd like to say that this one was a success. I can't wait! :)
